Earth Quakes in Divers Places

Chaos ~ Destruction ~ Fear

Today´s World

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are many places in the Bible that speak about earthquakes. In fact, the end of this present age and the events before the final judgment are portrayed as coming after an increase in earthquakes on the earth.
In the New Testament, earthquakes are mentioned as precursors of the events surrounding the Second Coming of Christ.  Zechariah 14:4-5 prophesies an endtime earthquake which will split the Mount of Olives in a north-south direction at the Second Coming.  Christ Himself declared that earthquakes would be in divers places.  Revelation 16:18 speaks of the coming great earthquake in connection with the pouring out of the seventh and last Bowl of Wrath upon end-time Babylon.
This generation is experiencing an end-time drama like none has ever seen.  The stage is set and the players are waiting in the wings.  Jesus is also waiting. Christians are waiting with anticipation, and in hushed silence, they keep their eyes wide open and their ears open, so they do not miss the silent catching away to glory. No one knows but God the Father, the day or the hour, when the Lord will appear.  But we have all confidence that one day, He will come ~ because He has promised. So, until that time, we need to be about our Father´s business. We also must wait, watch and be ready ~ for the coming of the Glorious Messiah!
Then the sanctuary of God in heaven was thrown open, and the ark of His covenant was seen standing inside in His sanctuary; and there were flashes of lightning, loud rumblings (blasts, muttering) peals of thunder, an earthquake, and a terrific hailstorm.
(Rev. 11:19; 1 Kings 8:1-6)
NEW DELHI
A major earthquake of at least 7.0 mag. hit India's southern Nicobar Islands on Sunday, July 24th, triggering panic in the islands and prompting Thailand to issue a tsunami warning for the region devastated by December's earthquake and tsunami.
The Indian Ocean basin was battered by the December earthquake and tsunami which followed, killing at least 178,953 people in 11 countries and leaving 49,616 people missing, most of them presumed dead. Sunday's quake also was felt in Indonesia's Aceh province, the area hit hardest in December tragedy.
The earthquake was mag. 7.2, and was centered in Nicobar. The quake also jolted the southern Indian state of Madras. In New Delhi, S. K. Bhatnagar, the deputy director-general of India's Meteorology Department, said: "There can be a local tsunami, but no such activity has been noticed in the region."
COLOMBO, Sri Lanka
An earthquake of epic power struck deep beneath the Indian Ocean, unleashing 20-foot tidal waves that ravaged coasts across thousands of miles.The death toll along the southern coast of Asia - and as far west as Somalia, on the African coast, where nine people were reported lost - steadily increased as authorities sorted out a far-flung disaster caused by the 9.0-mag. earthquake, the strongest in 40 years and the fourth-largest in a century.  Death toll approximately 177,000. CRESCENT CITY, Calif.
A major earthquake (7.0 M) struck about 80 miles off the coast of northern California, briefly prompting a tsunami warning along the Pacific coast.
The quake struck southwest of the coastal community of Crescent City and 300 miles northwest of San Francisco. "It appears from the mechanism of the earthquake that this was a slip-slide event so the motion was horizontal, not the vertical displacement that typically leads to a tsunami."  Witnesses felt buildings shaking along the California coast. "It was just a rolling sensation,’ and everything was quite orderly.
The latest quake was similar in strength to the 6.9-mag. Loma Prieta quake of 1989 that killed 40 people and caused about $6 billion dollars in structural damage in the Bay Area. But unlike Loma Prieta, this was located off shore so the damages were not heavy.
Washington State
Feb. 28, 2001
A 6.8 mag. earthquake struck Western Washington. The quake, whose epicenter lay 11 miles northeast of Olympia and 30 miles deep, was the largest to strike the area in more than 50 years.
YUCAIPA, Calif.
A moderate earthquake shook most of Southern California , startling people and knocking items off shelves and desks. The early afternoon quake had a mag. of 4.9 and was centered near Yucaipa  in San Bernardino County, east of Los Angeles. About 25 aftershocks followed in a little over an hour, the strongest estimated at mag. 3.5.  Residents reported shaking from Los Angeles to San Diego and in counties to the east. Rock slides were reported on Highway 38 in the San Bernardino Mountains. It was the third significant quake to hit California this week.  A mag.-5.2 quake shook Riverside County, and a mag.-7.0 quake struck under the ocean 90 miles off Northern California.  Californians have had a string of significant earthquakes after several years of relative seismic calm. But seismologists say clusters of quakes do not necessarily mean the Big One is coming.
Interesting Facts
Earthquakes occur on faults on earth's surface.
Earthquakes strike suddenly, without warning at any time of the year and at any time of the day or night.
The strongest earthquake in North America measured 8.6 to 9.2 on March 27, 1964, is called Good Friday earthquake.
A three month long series of earthquakes in years 1811-12 took place along the New Madrid Fault in Missouri measured 8 in mag.. These eartquakes were felt all over the eastern states of U.S.
Due to the Northridge, California, earthquake of January 17, 1994, economic loss has been estimated at $20 billion. Fortunately, only few lives were lost. The California earthquakes tested building design and construction practices, as well as emergency disaster plans.
Although most earthquakes occur on the west of the Rocky Mountains, and the most violent earthquakes have occurred in the central United States, all 50 states and all U.S. territories are vulnerable to earthquakes of moderate to high risk.
The North American continent is drifting westward very slowly, about 2.5 centimeters (one inch) per year.
Southern California  is a dangerous earthquake prone region. The danger in living in south California is due to the SAN ANDREAS FAULT in earthquake language. There are other faults also in Californea region. They may be as dangerous as the San Andreas fault. The danger of loss of life can be reduced by better building design and layout of furniture in the house. Heavy furniture like bookcases, file cabinet, kitchen cupboards, electronic items are vulnerable. Improper anchoring, locking and placing of all vulnerable items may cause death and huge loss of money.
Earthquakes may be unavoidable, but damages and losses are not. Take care for each item in the house, office, schools and all other facilities. Carry copies of all important documents, specially insurance papers. Prepare an emerncy plan for facing disastrous earthquakes.  The greatest number of large earthquakes take place in Alaska, but mostly in less populated areas.
The Earth's crust is divided into about 12 major "plates" which are constantly shifting, producing earthquakes and volcanic activity on every continent.
The largest earthquake in the southern and middle Rocky Mountains occurred on Nov. 8, 1882.
The last quake of 8.0 or higher in Japan was in 1994.
Crescent City was the site of the only known tsunami to cause deaths in the continental United States. Eleven people died and 29 city blocks were washed away there in 1964, by a tsunami spawned by a quake. Four people who were camping on a beach in Newport, Ore., also died in that tsunami.
When He (the Lamb) broke open the sixth seal, I looked, and there was a great earthquake; and the sun grew black as sackcloth of hair; the full disc of the moon became like blood. And the stars of the sky dropped to the earth like a fig tree shedding its unripe fruit out of season when shaken by a strong wind. And the sky rolled up like a scroll and vanished, and every mountain and island was dislodged from its place.
