A man accused of killing his two children, told authorities he shot them in New Hampshire, and buried them in a shallow grave in the Midwest ; after saying a prayer and making a duct tape cross on each child's chest. (2005)
Charges Filed In Baby's Death
Chillicothe, Ohio
Charges have been filed in the death of an 8-month-old Chillicothe girl.
The coroner says Destiny suffered from blunt trauma injury consistent with shaken baby syndrome. In June, Destiny was taken to the hospital after her mother called 911 to say her baby was not breathing. She was flown to a Children's Hospital, where she later died.
The County Sheriff arrested the boyfriend of the baby's mother. He was home alone with the infant when the incident happened. Destiny's mother, says she was doing laundry when she heard her boyfriend scream. She returned to find the child not breathing. According to a report, the boyfriend told the mother that the baby began choking while having her bottle. He then began to pat her back and lightly shake her, but she was unable to catch her breath. Man Kills Baby Boy, And Self During Chase
PIKEVILLE, Ky.
A man abducted his 9-month-old son from the mother's home, then shot and killed the baby and himself as police closed in. Police tracked the man through three counties and used spikes to puncture his vehicle's tires, nearly 100 miles from the baby's home in eastern Kentucky. Police found the bodies of father and his son, inside the SUV after it crashed. The baby had been shot three times. (2005)
Yosemite ~ 2,000 acre blaze
Investigators suspect a body found in Yosemite with a handgun and propane torch nearby is that of a 32 year-old man, a former stock market day trader.
The bodies of his wife, 32, and her daughters, 6, and 9, were discovered in their two-story house. Investigators believe the husband killed the three before traveling to Yosemite to start the 2,000-acre blaze. Park spokesman said the man appears to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. CHICAGO, ILL.
A woman was charged Monday with strangling her 4-year-old son after he disobeyed her instruction to stay home while she left to do laundry. The mother left the boy and his 5-year-old brother home alone as she did the laundry. She discovered the boy outside when she returned about 45 minutes later, beat him with a belt and sent him to his room. When he would not stop crying, she wrapped a sheet from the top bunk of a bunk bed around his neck and strangled him until he stopped moving, then returned to the coin-operated laundry. The boy's parents later found the boy on the floor next to a bunk bed. He was pronounced dead at a hospital about two hours later. (2005)
NORWALK, Calif.
A man who killed five of his children by lighting a charcoal grill inside his home and closing all the doors and windows was spared the death penalty by a jury Monday. Prosecutors said he tried to kill himself and his six children to spite his wife, who had left him. The children, ages 2 to 10, were asphyxiated by the carbon monoxide. The man and his then-9-year-old daughter survived. The jury decided he should be sentenced to life in prison without parole. (2003)

Mother Arrested in Slaying of Her Children
HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill.
A woman accused of stabbing her two young children more than 200 times as they tried to fight her off was charged Friday with two counts of first-degree murder. In the kitchen, the father spotted his 9-year-old son, lying on the floor in a pool of blood. Then he and his friend started up the stairs. At the top of the stairs, they found the 3-year-old daughter dead from stab wounds. "Right next to girl was the defendant, their mother, sitting there with a knife. Autopsies on the children showed each child had been stabbed at least 200 times, and that both children tried to fight off their attacker. (2005)

A man who murdered five family members then shot himself to death, left the haunting lyrics of a Grammy-winning song next to his computer and a note that read, "Woe is me. I'm looking forward to seeing you in the next life."
Investigators are still baffled about why the 44-year-old investigator for the district attorney's office, killed his wife, mother and three children while they slept. Based on a trail of bloody sock prints, investigators determined that the man used his duty weapon to kill his wife, 42, and mother, 75, upstairs, then he went downstairs and killed the children; the son , 14, and daughters 10, and 8. Murder Charge for Mother of 'Precious Doe'
KANSAS CITY, Mo.
Four years after a little girl's headless body was found, police identified an Oklahoma woman as her mother, and charged her in the murder of the child who became known as Precious Doe. Her body was found near an intersection on April 28, 2001. Days later, her head was found nearby, wrapped in a trash bag. The little girl was called Precious Doe because no one knew who she belonged to. Today, 2005, we know who she is: Erica Michelle Maria Green.
Her mother and her stepfather were with Erica in Kansas City, when her stepfather delivered the fatal kick to her head. The couple let the girl lay motionless on the floor for two days, deciding not to seek medical care, because there were warrants out for their arrests. Her stepfather later used hedge clippers to cut off the girl's head. She was almost 4 years old when she was killed.
The stepfather, is being held without bond and has convictions for several offenses, including assault with a dangerous weapon and possessing a sawed-off shotgun. Her mother was charged with second-degree felony murder and endangerment of a child's welfare. She also has convictions for theft and forgery. (2005)

The man charged with stabbing his 8 year-old daughter and her best friend to death, confessed to the gruesome crimes. The man who had recently been released from prison on assault charges, said he was angry at his 8-year-old daughter, for taking money from her mother. When the man tracked down his daughter and her nine year old best friend, they were in a wooded park near their homes. He told his daughter to go home, then punched her when she disobeyed. It was a brutal beating; repeated punching of the two little girls and then repeated stabs. His daughter was stabbed 20 times in the neck, abdomen, and once in each eye. Her best friend was stabbed 11 times in the neck and torso. (2005)
WESTMINSTER, Calif.
A man who shot to death his 4-year-old son and wounded his estranged wife in Long Beach was killed by police, after wounding an officer in a shootout. The man picked up his son from day care and drove to an area and pulled over, then called the mother and pretended the car had broken down. The child´s mother showed up shortly after 4 p.m., and placed her son in the back seat of her car. The man then began shooting at his estranged wife. He was still firing as she ran across the street, flagged down a passing car and was driven away. The man then returned to the mother's car and shot into it, killing his 4-year-old son. It was a preremeditated and deliberate murder. The boy was pronounced dead at a hospital. (2005)

Austrian Cops: Mom Stuffed Babies in Freezer
VIENNA, Austria
Police in southern Austria said they made a gruesome discovery — the bodies of four slain newborns stuffed into a freezer, entombed with cement in a paint bucket, or hidden beneath debris at an apartment complex.
Investigators said the infants' 32-year-old mother confessed to killing them out of despair over her inability to pay the bills, and fear that having a child might drive away her longtime male partner. Police found three bodies earlier this week and a fourth on Friday afternoon during a search of the premises. Her partner allegedly told police he was unaware of her pregnancies and insisted he played no role in either the slayings or the hiding of the bodies. (2005)
Mom Charged After Son Left in Car Dies
SYLVA, N.C.
A woman was charged with killing her 8-year-old son by keeping him locked in the trunk of a car while she was at work. Her lawyer says the boy was not restrained.
Her son was found dead Sunday. His mother, 36, was charged with second-degree murder, voluntary manslaughter and two counts of felony child abuse. She was jailed in lieu of $100,000 bail. Preliminary autopsy showed the boy died of hyperthermia. Jackson County Sheriff said there is evidence that the boy was locked in the trunk. The last time anyone other than his mother saw the boy alive was Friday night. After putting in a 17-hour day, the mother returned to work at 7 a.m. and about 4 p.m. she told a co-worker she believed her son was dead. She returned to her apartment in Asheville, about 40 miles away, he said. The mother faces up to 17 years in prison if convicted. (2005)
STEVENSON, Wash.
A woman who shot her two daughters in an abandoned rock quarry and promptly led police to the bodies pleaded guilty to murder in a deal with prosecutors that will send her to prison for 63 years.
The mother, 39, killed the girls, 2 and 4, with a rifle last June in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. In October, a judge ordered her committed to a hospital and treated with medication for six months, after which doctors pronounced her competent. The Prosecutor said Dorcy knew that killing her daughters was wrong. "One thing we've never heard from her is that she's sorry," he said. (2004)
