These are inveterate murmurers (grumblers) who complain (of their lot in life), going after their own desires (controlled by their passions); their talk is boastful and arrogant, (and they claim to) admire men's persons and pay people flattering compliments to gain advantage. But you must remember, beloved, the predictions, which were made by the apostles (the special messengers) of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). They told you beforehand, in the last days (in the end time) there will be scoffers (who seek to gratify their own unholy desires), following after their own ungodly passions. It is these who are (agitators) setting up distinctions and causing divisions ~ merely sensual (creatures, carnal, worldly-minded people), devoid of the (Holy) Spirit and destitute of any higher spiritual life.

INVERNESS, Fla.
A Florida couple accused of torturing and starving five adopted children - were captured in southeastern Utah. The couple was regarded by state social workers a decade ago, as model parents - now stand accused of monstrous acts against five of their eight children, including the 16-year-old, who weighed just 60 pounds when he was hospitalized. The children have told investigators they were starved, shocked with a cattle prod, beaten with a hammer and had toenails yanked out with pliers. Police compared their emaciated bodies to victims of Nazi concentration camps. He said the children were hit on their feet with rubber mallets and canes and made to sleep in a closet. (2005)

Deputy accused of abusing his 9-week-old baby
Licking County, Ohio
A sheriff's deputy is on the other side of the law, accused of critically injuring his own baby daughter. The 9-week-old baby is in critical condition at a children's Hospital. Police say the infant's father admitted to shaking the baby, not only in this incident, but in the past as well. Police say when the baby's mother left the couple's home early Thursday morning; he and his infant daughter were napping together in a lounge chair. "He was awakened by the baby fussing, and immediately became angry. And as he was standing up with the baby, shook the baby four or five times very abruptly and very violently," say police. (2005)

BROOKSVILLE, Fla.
A couple wanted on child abuse charges surrendered to authorities a month after a 10-year-old girl in their care was removed from their home weighing only 29 pounds. The malnourished girl was locked in her bedroom for days at a time and fed only milk, nutritional drinks and a spoonful of food three times a day. She was given a paint bucket to use as a toilet. NASHVILLE, Tenn.
A Tennessee woman has been jailed for child abuse after Nashville authorities say she failed to notice that her unrestrained toddler had tumbled out of her car as it rounded a curve. The child suffered cuts and bruises and was rescued from the street by several passersby.
The woman also faces charges of child neglect, reckless endangerment and driving under the influence. Witnesses reported seeing the toddler -- believed to be about two years old -- jumping up and down just before he fell out of the vehicle. The woman is being held on 79-thousand dollars' bond. She told the judge that she's been under a lot of stress and is also battling cocaine addiction.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla
The adoptive parents of a 17-year-old boy weighing just 49 pounds are accused of forcing him to wear a diaper and sleep in a cage-like bed. A police report states the boy, was starving and suffered psychosocial dwarfism - a lack of physical and emotional growth caused by abuse. The parents told investigators that the boy was forced to sleep in a crib-like cage with a wooden lid kept shut with chains and a lock because he had behavioral problems and was overeating at night. The crib was the size of a twin bed with locks to keep the sides from being lowered. (2005)

JOHNSTOWN, Pa.
The mother and grandmother of a toddler who died in December, face criminal charges for allegedly neglecting his severe diaper rash, leading to a fatal infection. The mother, 27, of Johnstown, was charged with involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment in the Dec. 12, 2004 death of her 15-month-old son. She was charged with a second count of child endangerment because another 3-year old, also had severe diaper rash. Her mother, 60, was charged with child endangerment, because she was a supervisor at a day care center her grandson attended.

A little girl is in foster care after her grandmother allegedly tried to kill her. Officials say the 58-year-old grandmother is charged with attempted murder for poisoning her four-year-old granddaughter. The girl was given some of the grandmothers own prescription medication. The woman is being held in Jail on a $250,000 bond. The girl was expected to survive. (2005)

An 88-year-old Georgia woman isn't taking this one lying down. She's filed suit against an Exterminator after allegedly being pinned down by him, after she questioned the amount of the bill. The elderly lady claims the exterminator came to her home last year, and got out of control when she challenged the higher-than-usual fee for pest control. The woman claims the man grabbed her walker, threw it across the room and then jumped on her. She says he shoved a pesticide nozzle into her throat and sprayed it. The man was fired just hours later. A grand jury has indicted him on charges of aggravated assault and carrying a concealed weapon. The woman says she still suffers numbness in parts of her face and neck. (2005)

BALTIMORE, Maryland
Two women received maximum prison sentences for their roles in the savage beating of a 12-year-old girl at a birthday party, an attack prompted by a kiss on the cheek from a boy acting on a dare. The first woman, 37, was sentenced to 30 years after pleading guilty to first-degree assault and second-degree child abuse for instigating other children at the party to beat the 12-year-old girl. The girl went into a three-week coma after the attack. The girl's sister, 11, was also beaten. The younger girl was struck several times and the women deliberately delayed obtaining medical treatment for the older girl.
The second woman, 25, received a six-year sentence on reckless endangerment and second-degree assault charges. The Judge said she ordered the maximum sentences, to send a message that the women's incomprehensible" behavior won't be tolerated. The first woman told other children at the 2004 sleepover, to beat Nicole, instructing them: "Don't stop until she bleeds. The first woman's 20 year-old daughter pleaded guilty to first-degree assault and was sentenced to four years in prison and four years probation. Seven other females were also charged in the attack. Charges against four of them were handled in juvenile court."

A woman who put her infant daughter in a hot oven 'set on broil', pleaded guilty to attempted murder. She was sentenced to 25 years in prison. The child survived after her father heard her screams and rushed into the kitchen, but she suffered third-degree burns over 70 percent of her body and still faces years of reconstructive surgery.

A woman was arrested on a child endangerment charge, after an infant was doused with pepper spray in a feud between two families in a Wal-Mart.
The 2-month-old baby was recovering after being sprayed with the oleoresin capsicum. Police reports indicate the woman's 16-year-old daughter produced a canister and sprayed the infant's grandmother and aunt, one of whom was holding the child. After the first discharge, the same woman took the canister and sprayed the baby. The 36 year-old woman was charged with felony injury to a child. (2005)

HAMDEN, Conn.
A father apparently distraught over his daughter's suspension from a softball team was arrested on a charge of beating her coach with an aluminum bat. The girl's father who teaches art at Notre Dame High School was freed on bond and a court appearance was scheduled. He was placed on administrative leave from his job after his arrest. The girl's softball coach, where she is a senior, told them that her dad first hit the victim in the head, then struck him several times when he was on the ground in a fetal position. "I took a big-time beating," the coach told the newspaper. "He was swinging for the fences. This guy was trying to kill me." (2005)

LAKE WORTH, Fla.
An 8-year-old girl who had been sexually assaulted and buried under rocks in a trash bin was found alive Sunday by an officer searching a landfill, authorities said. A teenager was charged with attempted murder.
The girl had minor injuries and was taken to a hospital. The 17 year-old male who had been staying at the house of the girl's godmother, and was charged with attempted murder, sexual battery on a child under 12 and false imprisonment of a victim under 13 years old. A Police Sgt. was scouring the landfill for the girl when he looked inside the trash bin, and he "saw a bunch of rocks, a foot and a hand. He yelled for assistance. It certainly was a miracle that we found this girl alive," the officer said.

Parents Charged After Kids Molest Siblings
BOISE, Idaho
A couple will be charged because their 10 and 12-year-old sons sexually molested three of their younger siblings, starting when one of the children was just one month old. Detectives believe the parents were aware of the abuse, but failed to report it to authorities and tried to handle it themselves by locking the older boys in a bedroom.
Prosecutors said one girl was just 2 years old when the abuse started in October 2002. The other girl was less than 8 months old. The sexual abuse of the boy allegedly began in December 2003, when he was just one month old, prosecutors said. "This is one of the worst cases we have ever worked." The older boys could be charged in juvenile court for lewd conduct with a minor. The parents were arraigned on four counts of felony child injury. Seven of the couple's eight children have been in state custody since February, when investigators found evidence of abuse and neglect in their home. The other child has been in state custody since 1998. (2005)

British police were questioning two 11-year-old children arrested on suspicion of attempting to murder a 5-year-old boy. One of the victim's relatives said the attackers tried to tie the boy to a tree by his neck. Officers arrested the boy and girl after the boy was found with marks around his neck and bruises on his body in Dewsbury, northern England.
The neck injuries could be ligature marks. The child was apparently taken from the garden of his mother's house. The boy's 22-year-old cousin and another person later found him in nearby woods. The cousin said the boy burst into tears when he saw her. "I asked him, 'What has happened?' He said, 'some boys and girls tied a rope around my neck and tried to tie me to a tree." "The victim is a 5-year-old child who suffered serious injuries, which is why those arrested were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

A third-grader stuck 19 schoolmates with her mother's diabetes blood-testing needle this week, and one pricked student tested positive for HIV on a preliminary test, officials said.
The 8-year-old stuck her Elementary schoolmates at the school's breakfast, at lunch and in the classroom, using a needle that was about one-third of an inch long, on the end of a device that looks like a pen. They were unsure why the girl did it. She was suspended and will probably be moved to another school. (2005)

Girl Injured in Shooting ~ Kidnapped
JACKSON, Miss.
A missing 11-year-old girl was found hours after being shot and abducted from her south Jackson home by two men wearing dark clothing and masks. The girl was shot in the arm and the side about 10:45 p.m., immediately after two males wearing masks and dark clothing broke down the door of a home. The men tore the home's phone from a wall and left the home in a dark-colored, small- to mid-sized vehicle with the girl. The child managed to break free at some point after she was taken by force. She hid in bushes, then knocked on the door of a nearby home, but didn't get an answer. The child hid in a vehicle until about 6 a.m., when she tried knocking on the same home's door. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.
A man kidnapped two girls from their homes while their parents slept, took them to a construction site and raped them before sending them home, threatening to kill their families if they said anything. The suspect, 31, confessed to investigators that he kidnapped, bound and raped the girls, ages 13 and 7, in separate incidents. "He went into occupied residences and snatched children while their parents were sleeping in the next room." I don't know how much more of a "monster" one can be, the Capt., said. The suspect was charged with kidnapping, armed burglary and sexual battery and was being held in jail without bond.

Woman: Kidnapping ~ Dumping Baby
CHICAGO, ILL.
A 36-year-old woman offered to pay her roommates $3,000 to help her kidnap a baby because she told her truck driver boyfriend she was pregnant, but later dumped the child in a trash can, police said Monday.
The boy, who was snatched from his mother's arms in their southwest side apartment, was found hours later unharmed in a garbage can a short distance from his home. The woman, a male, 30, and another male, 22, all from Chicago, were each charged with attempted murder and aggravated kidnapping. The suspect had been dating her boyfriend for about a year, and carried out the kidnapping so she would have a child to show him when he arrived home from a long-haul road trip.

A man lifting his infant daughter out of his car was killed in an apparent case of road rage by a motorist "who obviously exploded" and shot him four times at close range in front of dozens of witnesses, authorities said. The victim's 10-month-old girl was covered with blood but uninjured when police found her in a car seat on the floor of the vehicle.
The 60-year -old -man was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death of the 27-year-old man. The District Attorney said the shooter had made a calculated decision to "shoot a man in cold blood in broad daylight on the streets of Brockton."

CAMPBELL, Wis.
A 15-hour standoff with a man suspected of shooting his neighbor, ended when authorities coaxed him out of his house and made a grisly discovery. A body believed to be his mother was stashed in his freezer. Authorities said the man told them about the body during the overnight standoff, which began when he allegedly opened fire on a neighbor. The 52-year-old man shot his neighbor after the man confronted him about striking his 8-year-old son in the head and stealing his bicycle. The child's father was treated at a hospital and released. His wife and child were not wounded. (2005)

Columbus, Ohio
A Columbus man is charged with brutally raping his girlfriend in what amounts to the all-day assault and torture of the mother of the suspect's two children. The man, age 23, beat, bound, tortured, kidnapped and raped the mother. He grabbed a baseball bat and began beating his girlfriend, because of a missing check. He then stabbed the woman, forced her into performing numerous sex acts, and then tied her up -- binding her hands and feet. He then grabbed a hot curling iron and began burning the young woman. When the woman still could not find the check, the man urinated on her and tried to hang her with an electrical cord. He then heated up various kitchen utensils in order to brand the victim. But that's when she is said to have managed to escape by crawling out of the front window of the apartment. A passerby who saw her called for help, helping bring the hours-long nightmare to an end. The man was charged with multiple counts of rape, kidnapping, and assault. (2005)

A rural Poynette teenager, put mouse poison into food and beverages that his family ate and drank for weeks, to make them sick because he was mad at them. The 15 year-old was charged with three counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide.

N.M. Man Dragged More Than a Mile
GALLUP, N.M.
A man, who was bound by the ankles, tied to a vehicle and dragged more than a mile was in critical condition. When the police arrived they found the 32- year-old- man and a rope. Drag marks led back to the man's home. He is a single father of two children. He was airlifted to University of New Mexico Hospital.
A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the dragging of the Hispanic man behind a vehicle, which left the victim with burn-like abrasions over half his body. The suspect was booked on charges of kidnapping, aggravated battery and assault with intent to commit a violent felony. The 32-year-old victim remained hospitalized. He had been bound by the ankles and pulled by a rope for some 4,000 feet on Easter morning, according to police. (2005)

The mother of a 4-year-old boy, who shot his 2-year-old brother in the head with a handgun, has been charged with a weapons count. The 2-year-old was shot in the temple after an argument with his 4 -year - old brother, over a toy in March and he remains in critical condition. The 4-year-old is being cared for by his grandparents and receiving counseling. The 4-year-old apparently got his mother's gun (a .25 caliber pistol) from her purse after the younger brother threw a toy at him and bit him. (2005)

Coach Shot at Texas High School
CANTON, Texas
A man with a hit list shot and wounded a football coach at the high school where his son attended, and then fled in a pickup truck loaded with several weapons. The coach, who is also the High School Athletic Director, was shot in the school's field house with an AK-47 rifle. The man was airlifted to a hospital and remains in critical condition. The shooter was apprehended and was taken to hospital because he had slit his wrists.

Five wounded ~ 2 Killed in Maryland ~ Delaware
SALISBURY, Md
Five people were wounded and two shot dead, in shootings in three towns in Maryland and Delaware, authorities said. In Delaware, one was shot dead and 2 others wounded. Across the border in Maryland, 3 people were shot and wounded, and another one that was shot dead. The shooter shot at cars, homes and pets. He also terrorized an elderly couple, sending the woman who has heart problems to hospital. The shooter was later apprehended.
